COVID-19 Vaccine

Read Time: 2 minutes 4 seconds

Undoubtedly you are aware that the National Vaccination Program is underway. Distribution and administration of the three COVID-19 vaccines is daily news. Currently in Ohio, anyone over 16 years of age can get a vaccine. For national updates on COVID-19 vaccine availability, visit  Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Website or vaccinefinder.org.

Be Well Solutions encourages anyone reading this newsletter to follow the recommendations of national health experts regarding vaccination. Currently that advice is that all people should be vaccinated as soon as possible with any of the approved vaccines. Getting the COVID-19 vaccine will protect you, your friends, family, and coworkers.

Are All Three Vaccines Identical?

The three vaccines available for use in the United States are different in several ways. They are manufactured by three different companies; each vaccine is identified by its manufacturer. These three vaccines were developed by Pfizer-BioNtech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

Most importantly, all three vaccines are extremely effective against COVID-19, and all three protect against both infection and severe illness and death. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses, while the Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires one dose. Each vaccine helps the body produce disease-fighting antibodies against the COVID-19 virus, although the way the response is produced varies between the vaccine type.

Side effects are fairly similar between each type, with the most common being pain at the injection site, fatigue, headache and muscle aches For more specific information comparing the vaccines, visit the CDC’s Vaccine Product Information Page.

Will Be Well Solutions Be Offering the COVID-19 Vaccine?

Be Well Solutions has been offering on-site influenza flu clinics for years, so offering the COVID vaccine seems like a logical additional offering. In fact, Be Well is working on becoming a recognized COVID-19 vaccine provider – this would allow us to receive vaccine and administer clinics.

Currently, organizations like Be Well have not been allotted vaccine but we expect that to change. We can say with confidence that we will be a vaccine provider, but it is difficult to say when this approval will occur.
